Botanical Garden

Not only for children there is always something new to discover in the Botanical Garden of Chemnitz. With its large outdoor area, 1000 m2 of greenhouses and an aquarium house, it invites young and old to linger. Visitors to the Botanical Garden will also take home a lot of knowledge. The Botanical Garden also houses the School Biology Center of the Regional School Office Chemnitz and the Nature Protection Center of the NABU Regional Association Erzgebirge e.V.

Fancy a little adventure? Then let's go to the Chemnitz Climbing Forest! Located in the middle of the forest not far from the Rabenstein reservoir, the climbing forest offers variety and thrills for young and old. On 11 climbing trails with different levels of difficulty and heights (1 meter to 14 meters above the forest floor) you can hike, balance, slide and climb to your heart's content, as well as train dexterity and endurance.

Park railway

In the romantic Küchwald Park, in the middle of Chemnitz, the railway lover of small gauges can get to know two railway worlds. Since 1954, the trains of the Parkeisenbahn have been running on a circuit of 2. 3 km length on the 600 mm track from March to October. This was converted into a non-profit limited liability company in 1995 and to this day, together with a very active sponsoring association, it is dedicated as a children's leisure facility to the care, career orientation and preparation of young park railway workers. There are offers for school classes, children's birthdays and companies.

Wildgatter Oberrabenstein

The Wildgatter in Oberrabenstein, which has been in existence since 1973, has been part of the Chemnitz Zoo since 1995. It is located about northwest of the city. ten minutes by car from the zoo and can also be easily integrated into hikes through the Rabensteiner Forest. About 90 animals of more than 15 species currently live on 35 hectares of forest land. The terrain is extensive and natural. The visitor has the opportunity to view not only from the paths but also from observation pulpits the very generous and species-appropriate enclosures and to visit the animal inhabitants.
