St. Annen Church in Annaberg-Buchholz

The late Gothic hall church, built from 1499 to 1525, is the landmark of Annaberg-Buchholz. Although not too many details have survived from the old splendour of the magnificent decoration of the then Catholic church, the entire interior of the church still impresses. Listening to the sound of the restored Walcker organ from 1884 with its more than 4000 pipes and 65 stops is a special art pleasure. The Bergaltar from 1521, attributed to Hans Hesse, combines forms of Gothic with influences of the Renaissance and shows impressive mining life 500 years ago.
